White River

Tsagaan Gol eventually joins the Khovd River, and near their confluence, approximately half a kilometer downstream, a remarkable natural phenomenon can be observed: the waters from the eastern bank appear milky white, while those from the western bank are dark in color, flowing side by side without mixing for some distance. This striking contrast creates a rare and almost mythical visual effect, often compared to a river with two different colors. The total length of Tsagaan Gol is over 20 km.

Water Use:
Because the river carries fine glacial sediment, its water is not suitable for direct drinking. If used for food or drinking purposes, it should be filtered or allowed to settle first.

In the Tsagaan Gol valley, visitors can meet local Tuvan families and learn about their unique nomadic culture. Travelers can also visit the nearby petroglyphs of Shiveet Khairkhan Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
