Khentii Provincial Museum

The Khentii Provincial Museum was originally founded on April 8, 1949, by Order No. 61 of the Minister of Education of the Mongolian People’s Republic under the name “Local Studies Cabinet.” In 1971, it was reorganized as the “Local History Museum.” In 1984, it expanded further into an Ethnographic Museum after restoring five buildings from the former summer palace of the Khalkh Setsen Khan. Over time, it developed into separate divisions of local history and ethnography.

On July 27, 2023, the museum officially opened its new modern building, designed according to contemporary standards. Today, it operates through seven exhibition halls, presenting a wide range of collections.

The museum complex combines modern and traditional architectural styles and includes exhibition halls such as the Natural Heritage Hall and the Ancient History Hall, along with nine storage rooms for collections. It also features a cinema hall, conference room, souvenir shop, visitor rest areas, and facilities designed for people with special needs.
