Location and Geography
The territory of Uvurkhangai Province covers three major
geographical zones, making it rich in natural resources and diverse landscapes.
It is home to majestic mountain ranges such as Khytaruun and Bituut in the
Khangai Mountains, and Baga Bogd and Myangan Yamaat in the Mongol Altai range,
with elevations ranging from 2,000 to 3,590 meters above sea level.
Population and Culture
As of 2022, Uvurkhangai Province has a population of
approximately 117,000 people, ranking second in Mongolia by population size. The
province consists of 19 soums and 113 bags, with around 34,000 households
actively contributing to the region’s development and living in unity within
their local communities.
Natural Attractions
Uvurkhangai Province is home to many remarkable natural and
cultural sites, including Arvaikheer Bogd, Khujirt mineral spring, the sacred
horse worship traditions of the Mongolian people, the ancient capital of
Kharkhorum, Erdene Zuu Monastery, Tuvkhun Monastery, and the famous
Eight Lakes region, making it one of the most attractive destinations for both
cultural and nature-based tourism in Mongolia.
