About Darkhan-Uul
Location and Geography
Darkhan-Uul Province is located in the northern part of
Mongolia, within the valleys of the Kharaa River and among the foothills of the
Khentii mountain range. It covers a total area of 327.5 thousand hectares.
About 70.7% of the territory, or 231.7 thousand hectares, is used as
agricultural land.
Population and Culture
Darkhan-Uul is a highly urbanized province with a total
population of 102,014 people, of which 85,066 live in Darkhan city. Around
63.8% of the population is under the age of 35, and 55.2% are of working age.
The province has 28,862 households, with 29.1% living in detached houses, 51.0%
in apartment buildings, and 1% in independent modern housing units.
Natural and Cultural Attractions
The “Seven Wonders” of Darkhan-Uul Province include Takhlagt
Ikh Darkhan Mountain, Tree of Love, Sharyn Gol rock paintings, Buural Mountain
burial sites, Durs Naras pine trees, Lam Dondov mineral spring, and Khuiten
River rock inscriptions, making the province a unique blend of natural beauty
and historical heritage.
