About Sukhbaatar
Location and Geography
Sukhbaatar Province shares a 485 km border with the People’s
Republic of China. Within Mongolia, it borders Dornogovi Province to the west
for 165 km, Khentii Province to the north for 260 km, and Dornod Province to
the northeast for 430 km.
Population and Culture
The people of Sukhbaatar Province are traditional steppe
nomads who preserve Mongolia’s pastoral lifestyle and cultural heritage.
Natural and Cultural Attractions
Sukhbaatar Province is famous for the traditional long song
“Jaakhan Sharga,” Dariganga silver craftsmanship, and its lineage of fast and
strong racehorses. It is also well known for natural and cultural landmarks
such as Altan-Ovoo Mountain, Shiliin Bogd Mountain, Ganga Lake, and ancient
stone statues that reflect the region’s deep historical legacy.
