Location and Geography
The province contains Khökh Nuur Depression, which at 560
meters above sea level is considered the lowest point in Mongolia. The area is
characterized by widely distributed rocks from the Middle Paleozoic, Jurassic,
Cretaceous periods, as well as Quaternary and Neogene sediments. Major rivers
such as the Kherlen, Onon, Ulz, and Khalkh flow through the region, along with
lakes including Buir, Khokh, Galuut, and Yakh.
Population and Culture
The population is predominantly Khalkh Mongols.
Natural Attractions
The province is known for its beautiful natural sites,
including Buir Lake and the Khalkh River, which are important ecological and
historical landscapes in eastern Mongolia.
