About Khentii
Location and Geography
Khentii Province is located in the northeastern part of
Mongolia and belongs to the eastern regional zone. It borders the Russian
Federation (Transbaikal Krai) to the north. Within Mongolia, it shares
boundaries with six provinces: Dornod, Sukhbaatar, Dornogovi, Govisümber, Tov,
and Selenge, as well as the Baganuur district of the capital city.
Population and Culture
Khentii Province is a historically significant region
closely associated with Genghis Khan, as it is widely recognized as his
birthplace and ancestral homeland.
Natural Attractions
Khentii Province is rich in natural and historical landmarks,
including Burkhan Khaldun Mountain, Baldan Bereeven Monastery, the
Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue complex, Deluun Boldog, Khara Zurch Khukh
Lake, Kherlen Toono Island, Oglogchiin Kherem fortress, Rashaant rock site, and
the Duurlig Nars Hunnu burial site, all of which reflect the province’s deep
historical, cultural, and natural heritage.
